999 Grant

999 GRANT

A major re-development for downtown Novato, this new two-story building will have ground level retail with commercial office use above. The new building will become both a gateway to the old town and a link to newer developments along Grant to the west of Redwood. It reflects both the nature of old town Novato with its intimate retail character, and the larger scale developments along Redwood Blvd.

This corner building is brought close to street sidewalks, allowing for a pedestrian-friendly promenade and reinforcing its urban context. The retail environment is conceived as intimate and inviting with textured surfaces, appealing storefronts, protective overhead awnings and urban scale planting.

The L shaped building footprint creates an environment within the interior of the lot. Here the building’s other use as an office emerges. With convenient shaded parking, pedestrian walkways and landscaping the building offers an alluring commercial face. The two story lobby occupies the prominent South Eastern corner with good visibility back to Grant Avenue.
